About
I am a poet, student, and traveler from Colorado, USA. I started this blog as part of my 2020 Rotary Youth Exchange, but decided to evolve it into a personal blog site when my exchange was cancelled in April during the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic.
Things I'm Passionate About

Local Government
I believe local government is a powerful force. I have worked with the Loveland city council for three years now and I really believe that local government is at times more impactful than the federal or state levels of government. They have a close connection with their immediate constituents and this means that policies are catered to the needs of the community better than at the national level.
As part of the Loveland Youth Advisory Commission I have supported an initiative to upgrade our Loveland transportation system, advocated for change to vaping and tobacco legislation in order to protect youth usage, and supported greater youth participation in local government with political education initiatives.

Education
I believe education is essential to quality of life and social mobility. Both of my parents were teachers, and this greatly impacted my world view. I believe without access to education our world will never have true equality.

Music
Before high school I was in a professional children's choir for seven years. This grew my love for choral music, and music in general. I love listening to music and performing it. I hope to me part of a choir in college and even tour if possible.
I played trumpet and clarinet briefly in middle school but I was too busy to continue playing these. My dad and my grandpa both played the trumpet and are avid jazz lovers. One of my goals is to learn trumpet.

Nature
I love the great outdoors, especially after being raised with Rocky Mountain National Park only and hour away from where I live. I love the mountains and I believe that hiking is the best form of exercise (especially if you stop to hammock on the way).
We are in a climate crisis. Our atmosphere is heating fast and our carbon emissions continue to affect natural disasters and extreme weather conditions. I believe the older generations have failed at addressing climate change and I hope that my generation can do something before it's too late.
Fun Facts About Me
Get to know me a little better.
Favorite Color
My favorite color is green. But not just any green: a beautiful deep and rich forest green that is slightly bluish.
Favorite Food
I am a croissant-loving girl. During the pandemic my mom and I spend 12 hours making croissants from scratch because I love them so much.
Favorite Book
It's hard to choose a favorite book when so many books I've read have enriched my life. But my favorite book is I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson.
Favorite word in spanish
My favorite word in spanish is 'ojalá'. It means hopefully or god-willing.
Favorite symbol
I love cacti and I will buy anything with cacti on it. Bringing me things with cacti on them is the way to my heart.
Strange Hobbies
From time to time I like to hand write letters to my friends and family and seal them with wax. Its a fun way to show the people I love that I care about them!
Favorite Animal
It kind of makes me a little kid but I love dinosaurs and goats! Especially the T-Rex. Still disappointed that meteors came and destroyed them all.
Favorite Country
Besides the United States, I love Estonia. One time I was able to role-play as Estonia for Model United Nations. I thought this country was really interesting while being relatively progressive for a former-soviet country.
